AWARDS AND GRANTS FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS

Awards to Young Scientists
The ISE will honour three highly talented young researchers with the Extremophiles Award. This award consists of a specially designed medal and a certificate. Eligible persons are young scientists (maximum age 31) who will present a poster or talk at the conference. The laureates will be selected by a jury based on the abstracts that have been submitted to Extremophiles 2008. The award ceremony will take place during the conference gala dinner.

Conference Registration Grants
A limited number of ISE-grants are offered to young scientists seeking support for attending the Extremophiles 2008 conference.

To apply for a grant, an abstract has to be presented as first author, the registration has to be completed and the fees paid. Letters of applications, including a short CV (max. one A4 page), a copy of the abstract and a brief description of the current work should then be forwarded to dcowan@uwc.ac.za. Successful applicants will be refunded.

Grants will be for the registration fee only (maximum early registration fees, 250 €).

Deadline for submitting grant applications is 31 May 2008. Decisions will be made by 30th June 2008.
